New York High School Basketball - Washingtonville edges Suffern

(January 19, 2008: Suffern, NY 10901) The Washingtonville Wizards (Washingtonville, NY) basketball nipped the host Suffern Mounties (Suffern, NY), 60-56 in Saturday's non-league test.

The Wizards (5-5) will now prepare for their test against Minisink Valley (Slate Hill, NY). The Warriors go into the Section 9 Orange County II test with a 10-0 record. In their last test, Minisink Valley got by Port Jervis (Port Jervis, NY), 69-52, in a non-league test.

The Mounties now own a 10-4 record. They take the field next when they host New Paltz for a non-league test on Sunday, January 20. Suffern will clash with a Huguenots squad coming off a 69-59 non-league win over Millbrook (Millbrook, NY). The Huguenots record now stands at 5-1.
