GAME SUMMARY
New York High School Basketball - Clarkstown North trounced by Mt. Vernon

(December 18, 2007: New City, NY 10956) The Mt. Vernon Knights basketball team scored 58 points and held the host Clarkstown North Rams to 28 in the Knights non-league triumph on Tuesday.

With the triumph, Mt. Vernon moves its record to 3-0 on the year. The Knights host Peekskill (Peekskill, NY) to face the Red Devils in a non-league game on Friday, December 21. The Red Devils enter the game with a record of 4-2. Peekskill lost 79-49 in their recent league game against Ossining (Ossining, NY)

With the defeat, Clarkstown North moves to 0-3 on the year. The Rams travel to Yonkers (Yonkers, NY) to face the Bulldogs in a non-league game on Thursday, December 20. The Bulldogs enter the game with a record of 1-3. Yonkers lost 54-39 in their recent non-league game against Ramapo (Spring Valley, NY)


Scoring Summary
First Quarter
The first quarter was riddled with tough defense by Mount Vernon and good team offense. It was clear CNHS was looking to shut down Nadia and Kwinnyata, but the scoring came from everyone. Six people scored in the first quarter led by Shanyce Stewart's six points.
Second Quarter
Seven points from Nadia Duncan led the way as four people scored. An injury to Taylor Palmer early in the second quarter caused her to sit out until 7 minutes remaining in the game.
Third Quarter
The third quarter was the first quarter lost by MVHS since the season began. Hot shooting by CNHS by six different scorers paved the way for them ;ed by Eluse Schwarts with four points. At the end of the third quarter Kwinnyata Mercer scored 7 points.
Forth Quarter
Onve again the fourth quarter was illustrated bu MVHS' swarming defense. CNHS only scored 2 points. Five people scored for MVHS led by Kwinnyata's 7 points.
