Copeland Named Master Photographer in Georgia

CAMERON PARK, Calif. --- Cecil Copeland, who has been covering high school sports in Georgia since 1988, has been named as a MaxPreps Master Photographer for that state.

Copeland has been a member of the MaxPreps Photographers' Network for the past two years.

"Shooting sports came as a direct result of having kids," Copeland said. "As my kids grew up, they played sports and that's what I started shooting. I found out that shooting sports is what I really loved to do."

Copeland's main duties as a MaxPreps Master Photographer will include coordinating photo coverage in Georgia, as well as recruiting new photographers to shoot for MaxPreps.

"Cecil has a great passion for covering high school sports and we're excited that he is going to play a bigger role for us as we expand our coverage in Georgia," MaxPreps Director of Photography Todd Shurtleff said.

Copeland's photos have appeared in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Marietta Daily Journal, Georgia Sports Monthly magazine, and Inside Lacrosse magazine. Copeland is also a member of SportsShooter.com.

"Shooting for MaxPreps has given me a bigger audience for my work," Copeland said. "The standards for sports photography that MaxPreps sets for their photographers forces me to be a better sports photographer."
