MaxPreps.com is the largest, most comprehensive, and highly visited high school sports Web site.

MaxPreps, Inc., was purchased by the CBS Corporation in April of 2007. Before that, MaxPreps was a privately-owned company for nearly five years while reshaping the way high school sports is covered nationally on the Internet. The MaxPreps business is part of CBS-owned CSTV (College Sports Television). CSTV Networks, Inc., is the leading digital and cable programming company dedicated to college sports.

MaxPreps is a celebration of high school sports that seeks to provide coverage for "Every Team, Every Game, and Every Player."

MaxPreps aggregates team and player stats from a variety of sources, including nearly 20,000 high school coaches, and along with its network of reporters and photographers from throughout the nation, the Web site is: "America's Source for High School Sports."

The site, which highlights a wide range of varsity sports, contains over 10 million pages of content and roster information on more than 1 million high school athletes. MaxPreps publishes national rankings for every varsity football team, as well as boys and girls basketball.

During the school year, MaxPreps.com serves more than 2.5 million visitors per month.

MaxPreps syndicates content to dozens of local newspapers and television stations, as well as major national media outlets, including USA Today.



MaxPreps Video Programs
MaxPreps displays game highlights from around the nation in video supplied by media outlets, coaches, correspondents and fans. MaxPreps produces four regularly scheduled short-format sports programs each week that are hosted by Steve Montoya and Chris Stonebraker.
  • Rev It Up - Kicks off each week on Mondays with a look forward to upcoming big games, as well as showing features and Q&A from players and fans.
  • Varsity Center - A mid-week program featuring MaxPreps' teams and players of the week.
  • Friday 5 - Wraps up each week by giving fans the "Top 5" players, plays and teams of the week.
  • Weekend Drill - Gives viewers scores and highlights over the weekend from games played around the nation the previous day.


MaxPreps Video Network
MaxPreps has around 40 video "intern" photographers around the nation who capture football highlights along with producing a short segment from a select game each week, primarily in the nation's largest media markets. The filming of game highlights along with interviews of players' and coaches' is handled by each correspondent and the edited product is posted on the MaxPreps site for viewing.


MaxPreps Photographers' Network
MaxPreps has the largest collection of high school sports photos with more than 5,000 galleries that consist of over 500,000 high-quality images. MaxPreps has more than 500 professional photographers nationwide that are approved members of the MaxPreps Photographers' Network. Photos from MaxPreps photographers are regularly licensed to major media outlets, including Sports Illustrated, ESPN, and The Sporting News. Todd Shurtleff is Director of Photography and manages the MaxPreps Photographers' Network.


MaxPreps Senior Writers
MaxPreps has assembled some of the nation's top writers that have covered the high school sports beat for large media companies. Leading the way is Dave Krider, who spent 18 years covering high school sports for USA Today and he is a member of both the National High School Hall of Fame and the U.S. Basketball Writers Hall of Fame. Mitch Stephens joined the MaxPreps team after spending the last 23 years covering prep sports at daily newspapers, including the last seven at The San Francisco Chronicle. Stephens is the current president of the California Prep Sports Writers Association. Other senior writers that bring great knowledge and many years of reporting on high school sports are Kevin Askeland and Steve Spiewak. Jason Hickman oversees the editorial departments (writers, photography, video) at MaxPreps and had previously covered high school sports in Washington for several years as a writer in the Seattle area. MaxPreps also has correspondents (writers) around the nation that file reports on a regular basis.


TRU Preps
TRU Preps (www.TRUpreps.com) was launched by MaxPreps in the summer of 2007 and gives high school athletes their own personal profile page on the Internet for their sports achievements, stats, photos and video highlights. Athletes will also be able to stay connected with their teammates, coaches and friends through their personal page on the TRU Preps Web site.The slogan of TRU Preps is "Get noticed. Stay connected. Be TRU."


MaxPreps Advertisers/Sponsors
Many national companies have used the MaxPreps site to reach consumers, especially teenagers. Among those that have advertised or sponsored coverage on the site are Adidas, Nike, T-Mobile, the Army National Guard, Reebok, New Balance, U.S. Marines, and MTV.


MaxPreps, Inc.
Andy Beal is founder and CEO of MaxPreps, Inc. Chad Downey is Vice President of Operations and Executive Editor. Roger Loghry is Director of Technology. All three have been with the company since the beginning. The company employs 60 full-time staff that contributed to the daily operations of the Web site. MaxPreps, Inc. was established in 2003 and is headquartered in Cameron Park, California.
