Know a coach who strives to win, but also teaches important life lessons?
Alyssa Brown had her best game so far in the season against Apex Friendship. Defensively she was solid at 3rd base and made no errors. Offensively she hit one in the park home-run, a triple, and another base-hit!
This was Alyssa's first mound start as a senior and she dominated! Not only did Alyssa record 5 strikeouts, but her accuracy and movement kept hitters from getting the ball out of the infield. Alyssa does an excellent job of controlling her emotions and refocusing herself when calls do not go her way. On the offensive side Alyssa did her job and went 2 for 3. All around this was a great game by an athlete that is reaching her peak!
This decision was difficult because I have 2 players who stepped up in big ways--Ari Kuchta stepped up with a 4-run in the park homerun to get us in the game and Alyssa Brown stepped up on the mound to shut down Green Hope. Senior Alyssa Brown gets the player of the game for stepping in during the 2nd inning and cutting Green Hope off of their hitting game. Before Alyssa came in Green Hope had scored 8 runs, after Alyssa came in Green Hope scored 0 runs! Alyssa is the senior pitcher for our program and always shows great poise on the mound. Last night Alyssa also displayed her grit and domination by keeping her Hawks in the game. Alyssa's strength is that she utilized her spin pitches and depended on her defense to do their jobs!
