  • Varsity Football (2011) Player of the Week

Congratulations to #12 Casey Kelly who was selected as the Varsity Football (2011) Player of the Week.

Senior QB Chad Kelly. St. Joes offense does'nt have very many big impact players besides last weeks Player Of the Week sophomore Nigel Davis. So many defenses plan is to stop Kelly. That is where the problems start. The 6'3, 215 # verbally comitted signal caller to Clemson University can hurt a defense by his arm as equally his feet. At Central Mountain of Pa (AAAA),Chad rushed for 106 yds on only 7 carries and 3 tds, with an ESPN top 10 hilite 34 yd scamper. He threw the ball early and on target and finished 17/23 for 262 yds and 2 TDs. For the year Kelly is averaging 9.5 yds per rush and 10.5 yds per pass ATTEMPT. He is tied on the team with Nigel Davis with 6 tds overall while throwing for 8 thru the air. His QB passer ratings for the season are: 116.62 NFL and 177.13 NCAA. They play St. Francis this upcoming weekend for the lead in the tough WNY MMAA division.

Senior Captain, QB Chad Kelly. Chad broke the Western New York single season passing record with a 307 yard on 21/34 and 3 TDs performance in Thursday's Semi Final playoff win vs. rival Canisius. He now has 2842 yds for the season and shattered Joe Licata's 2010 record of 2573 yds in the the 1st qtr. with a 29 yd completion to fellow Sr. Yanni Zulia. He also broke Licata's WNY record for most completions in a season when he hit Nigel Davis on a 29 yd TD pass in the 3rd qtr. Chad also ran for 202 yards on 21 carries for the day. He now has 2842 yards and 27 TDs for the year. The dual threat QB needs 110 yds rushing to break 1,000 on the year and 158 passing yards to go over 3,000. Player of the Year

Congratulations to #12 Chad Kelly for being selected the St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Football Player of the Year.

6’3 215# QB/P Sr. Captain: Once in a generation player to watch play high school prep QB. Can run, punt and kick as well. See WNY and MMAA/SJCI record books for records and honors that he holds. There will be more to follow watching him perform on his next level of play in the collegiate ranks at Clemson. Bottom line at the end of the day, a very knowledgeable competitive athlete that raises the play of the players around him while forcing defenses to spend the time to game plan how to stop him. Averaged over 330 combined rushing and passing yardage per game in 2 years at the WNY MMAA school (private catholic league that is not allowed to play in NY state playoffs). Passed for 3050 yds (27TDs) and rushed for 991 yds (14TDs) this past 2011 season in 11 games. For his 2 year career he finishes with a 104.8 NFL passer rating and an NCAA rating of 156.9 At the time of this publication, awaiting the new ESPN TOTAL QB rating which is a better assessment of a HS prep QB.
