Congratulations to #12 Haley Santa Cruz for being selected the Moreau Catholic Softball Player of the Game.

Haley Santa Cruz made her high school pitching debut a memorable one by throwing a complete game shutout against the San Rafael Dawgs. "Boardwalk" scattered 4 hits over 7 innings while recording 6 strikeouts with only one walk. Haley was supported on offense with timely hits by Gabby Perez, Katie Cameron, Analeese Farias-Rios, Ally Carrizo, and Katherine Murdock. Congratulations to #12 Haley Santa Cruz for being selected the Moreau Catholic Softball Player of the Game.

Haley Santa Cruz held the league leading Newark Memorial Cougars to only 5 hits but a bad bounce that got past the Mariner catcher with 2 outs in the sixth brought in the tying and go ahead runs. The Mariners were unable to rally back in the 7th and Newark remains undefeated in league play with the 4-3 comeback win. Moreau Catholic never trailed till that ill fated bounce and kept the Cougars at bay with stellar defensive plays including 3 double plays!Haley Fuentes, Arielle Acosta, Janessa Khamseh, Gabby Perez and Katherine Murdock all took part in one or more of the flashy twin killings. Analeese Farias-Rios made 2 fine catches in right field while the offense was spread out with 5 Mariners all getting one hit. Miss Santa Cruz was on her game as she continually baffled Newark's hitters and finished with 3 strikeouts. Congrats to Haley Santa Cruz "Boardwalk" for being named tonight's Moreau Catholic Player of the Game!!!

Congratulations to #12 Haley Santa Cruz for being selected the Moreau Catholic Softball Player of the Game.

Haley Santa Cruz both pitched and slugged Moreau Catholic to an exciting 5-3 extra inning victory over the American Eagles. Haley went 3 for 4 at the plate and knocked in 4 of the 5 Mariner runs. Just as impressive she came in to pitch the final 2 innings in relief of starter Gabby Franco and picked up the win by shutting the Eagles out in the 7th and 8th. Gabby Franco had the Eagles shutdown till they managed a couple of unearned runs in the 5th. Key singles by Janessa Khamseh, Gabi Perez and Haley Fuentes help set up Miss Santa Cruz 's hitting heroics. The Mariners win their 11th game of the year while dropping American to 5-5 in league compared to Moreau's 6-4 MVAL record. Congrats to Haley "Boardwalk" Santa Cruz on being named the Moreau Catholic Mariner of the Game!!!

Haley "Boardwalk" Santa Cruz had a spectacular all around game in Moreau Catholic's 9-3 NCS playoff first round victory over Terra Linda. Haley pitched the complete game with no walks and 8 strikeouts. Miss Boardwalk also helped her cause at the plate by going 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and a double. The top of the lineup was red hot as all of the first 3 hitters had 2 hits apiece. That included Leila Velasquez, Gabi Perez and Arielle Acosta whose 2 hits were both triples. Not to be outdone fleet footed center fielder Analeese Farias-Rios crushed 3 line drive singles and knocked in 2 runs. Alyssa Foreman and Gabby Franco each contributed a hit and some stellar defense. A great start to this year's NCS Playoffs and hopefully we can take this momentum into Friday's quarter final against Number 1 seed San Marin. Congratulations to Haley Santa Cruz for leading us to victory and for being named tonight's Moreau Mariner Player of the Game!!!

The Moreau Mariners were clearly "under the Boardwalk" Tuesday afternoon as Haley Santa Cruz "Boardwalk" pitched them to an exciting 4-3 victory over previously unbeaten in league play Logan. Haley had the Colts shutout for the first 6 innings and clinging to a slim 1-0 lead since the 3rd. Moreau put up 3 runs in the top of the 7th with 3 hits and a walk capped by Arielle "Pasta" Acosta's crucial run scoring double. Haley survived a Logan 7th inning rally by retiring the final 2 Colt hitters and securing the hard fought victory. Gabby Franco and Janessa Khamseh led the Mariner hitting attack with 2 hits each while defensively Moreau got multiple defensive gems from Janessa, Analeese, Leila, Arielle and our Mariner Player of the Game, Haley Santa Cruz! This satisfying win over the perennial MVAL League champions will also be remembered for the Janessa Khamseh homer to center that was incorrectly ruled a ground rule double. Congrats to the Mighty Mariners and Miss "Boardwalk"!!!!!

Wow! What a game for the pitchers. Haley Santa Cruz Boardwalk out dueled American's Alexis Palmon 2-1 in 11 innings! Where as Palmon held the powerful Mariners to only 7 hits and NO walks, Miss Santa Cruz was spectacular as she dealt the Eagles 14 strikeouts, NO walks and only 5 singles! Inning after inning both pitchers kept putting up zeros until both teams managed a run in the 6th. Arielle Acosta finally ended the marathon in the 11th inning with a monumental blast over the center fielder's head to drive in Alyssa "Dirty Al" Foreman with the winning run. In the 6th Janessa Khamseh also knocked Dirty Al and her shinny new cleats in to tie the game at 1-1. Miss Acosta's walk off shot in the 11th was her 2nd hit of the game and was the only Mariner to get more than one. There were plenty of defensive gems by both teams but extra kudos to Dirty Al who made numerous plays in our notorious sun field in right. Congrats to Haley Santa Cruz as she is our Mariner Player of the Game!!!

Haley Santa Cruz continued her hot pitching streak by shutting out the Kennedy Titans 11-0 on a balmy Thursday afternoon. Haley struck out 13 and held the Titans without a hit till 2 outs in the final inning when Jaeda Holland broke up the no no with a 2 strike double down the 3rd base line. Haley has now thrown 20 consecutive innings without giving up an earned run! Arielle Acosta started the game off with a booming double off the left field fence and the Mariner offense followed that with 13 more. Gabby Franco and Janessa Khamseh led Moreau with 3 hits apiece and combined for 5 runs,5 RBI,2 doubles,2 stolen bases and a partridge in a pear tree. Leila Velasquez and Gabi Perez each had 2 hits while Haley "Tito" Fuentes knocked in 3 runs. Chelsea Farinaro pumped up the crowd and teammates by beating out an infield hit for her first official Moreau Mariner Knock...Way to go Chelsea!!! Congrats to Haley Santa Cruz "Boardwalk" for again being named the Moreau Catholic Mariner of the Game!

Haley Santa Cruz was one pitch short of throwing a perfect game in leading the Moreau Mariners to an 11-0 win over Pinole Valley. Haley hit the 2nd batter of the game in the foot on a harmless change up and then proceeded to set the next 14 batters down in order. "Boardwalk" finished with 11 strikeouts and of course NO walks. Only 4 Spartans managed to hit the ball but the only one that reached the outfield was spectacularly run down and caught by the mercurial Analeese Farias-Rios! Ariella Acosta capped an 8 run Mariner 4th by hitting a Grand Slam over the left fielder's head. Gabi Perez, Leila Velasquez and Analeese had 2 hits apiece while all 6 of the other Mariner starters had one hit each. For throwing her NCS quarter final NoHitter Haley Santa Cruz has been named the Moreau Catholic Mariner Player of the Game!!! Moreau next plays Tuesday night at 7:00 pm Larry Standley Field against Terra Linda in a Division 3 semi final NCS Game.........Go Mariners!!!
