Wow---what can I say about this amazing 13-year-old player? Katie is a natural leader and gives her all till the whistle blows. She had 23 points on her serve alone. She is a true asset to our team!!
Katie Nakagawa was awarded the Amory High School Varsity MVP award for this season for her second season in a row. Her contribution on the court has proven to be well beyond her years. At 14 years old, she shows maturity on the court that is hard to find. She credits much of her success to her teammates who support her in so many ways and her new Coach Amanda Ragon. Coach Ragon has come in a set a fire under these players and Katie is consistently rising to the challenge. Amory runs a 5-1 and this is a complete departure from last season's team rotations. Rotations and roles have been difficult for the team but Katie has shown much promise in leading an offense and defense that is now on par with the rest of the league. Katie leads the Varsity team in service aces, digs, and receptions and proves that anyone at any age can contribute.
