The Syracuse bound Thompson-Bishop always plays well on Offense but many don't know his punting is elite status in CT. He finished 2nd last year but has started off with a bang already booting two balls for a 112 yards and pinned both inside 20. His average of 56 yards is quite impressive along with catching 4 for 66 yards. Russell was also a great blocker for a run game that totaled over 300 yards on the night.
Syracuse bound Thompson-Bishop was a primary target for Rocky Hill to stop. He lead a tough receiving core with 7 catches for 80 yards. His two tds in huge situations are the reason he is going D1. On 4th and 25 Russell ran a post route while being hit before the ball arrived still caught it and capped a 90 yard drive to go ahead 42-35. That also was the last of 3 straight tds for the Warhawks after being down 35-20. RTB is also a tremendous blocker in the secondary helping Bloomfield rush for over 200 yards on the night.
Russell was a consistent in the punt game getting off a 39 yard average in terrible conditions. Also had a bad snap and got his punt blocked, his instincts kicked in he scooped and ran it roughly 25 yards (8 from the line of scrimmage) giving the Warhawks a first down as they ran the clock out to tend the game.
RTB as always produces on offense today he had 3 catches for 106 yards and 1 td, another catch setting up a score. The Syracuse commit also truly enjoys punting and pinning teams for his defense. Today he had 3,1 inside the 20 for a total of 125 yards and should be ranked tops in state for average but the Hawks don't punt enough to qualify.
RTP was once again a factor in the passing game representing Lawson Jr's favorite target all season. He finished the game with 5 catches for 100 yards and a TD. He also was an extremely big blocker for a ground game that was up and down the field on RHAM Saturday afternoon. He also had 2 punts for a 39 yard average pinning the Sachems offense on their half of the field.
RTB as the Warhawk community refers to him had a fantastic evening saving his best game for last. The Syracuse commit snagged 7 balls for 186 yards with 3 tds. Basically every ball that Lawson Jr threw to him was caught and all for huge plays. Thompson-Bishop also once again played a huge role with his physical blocking helping Bloomfield to 400 yards rushing. A special young man who elevated his game to another level just in time for playoffs.
Senior Forward Russell Thompson-Bishop had 10 points, 16 rebounds and 9 blocked shots to lead the Warhawks to a 57 - 53 CCC first round win over visiting Northwest Catholic HS.
