Anthony Davis

ChicagoHoops.com is among the media outlets reporting that Anthony Davis of Perspectives Charter (Chicago, Ill.) has given a verbal commitment to Kentucky.

Davis will check in at No. 6 in MaxPreps.com's Class of 2011 Top 100 set to be released next Tuesday. The 6-foot-9, 185-pound forward was a virtual unknown without a single scholarship offer until bursting on to the summer scene with Chicago-based club team Mean Streets.

"I am glad the process is finally over," Davis' father, Anthony Davis Sr., told ChicagoHoops.com. "It was a bit overwhelming at times, but Kentucky was the right fit for Anthony athletically, academically and socially."

Davis' recruitment got messy in recent weeks with the Chicago Sun-Times reporting that Davis Sr. had shopped his son's commitment around to multiple schools with a price tag ranging from $100,000 to $200,000.

The Davis family has threatened legal action and the University of Kentucky also addressed the report in a letter posted on its official athletic site.

John Calipari is well on his way to landing the No. 1-ranked recruiting class for the third-consecutive year. When MaxPreps releases its updated Top 100 next week, the Wildcats will have commitments from three of the top 10 players with Michael Gilchrist and Marquis Teague already on board.
