Germantown (Wis.)Winners of back-to-back state titles and ranked No. 10 nationally by MaxPreps this week, the
boys basketball team recorded another major achievement Tuesday night.
With a 90-63 win over Milwaukee Lutheran, the Warhawks rolled to consecutive victory No. 63 – breaking Dominican's state record of 62 in a row from 1977-80.
Dave Boehler chronicled the historic night here
for the Journal Sentinel.
Ironically, Germantown matched the previous mark by thrashing Dominican 75-29 over the weekend at the NY2LA Sports Classic.
Against Milwaukee Lutheran, five players scored in double figures for the two-time defending Division 1 champs. Leading the way with 17 points apiece were head coach Steve Showalter's son Jake Showalter
and Evan Wesenberg
. That duo will continue playing together next year at North Dakota State.
Germantown improved to 7-0 on the season with six of those wins coming by 25 points or more. That's been the story through much of the streak with nearly 80 percent (49 of 63) of the victories coming by 20-plus.
The Warhawks hit the floor again Friday at Grafton.
