Tony Gonzalez is probably the best tight end in NFL history and continues to produce at a high level on Sundays.
But this past weekend Gonzalez took some time away from his preparation to give a few words of inspiration to the high school football players at his alma mater, Huntington Beach (Calif.)
Gonzalez sent a video to the team before its CIF Southern Section Southwestern Division championship game last Friday against Newport Harbor.
He wished the players luck in attempting to bring home the school's first-ever section title, saying they were playing for everyone who has ever worn the uniform, and encouraged them to savor the moment.
The Oilers appeared to take the words to heart, as they came up with a 42-28 victory to win the section championship
