Girls basketball in Utah will not be the same after
Skyline (Salt Lake City) coach Deb Bennett stepped down Tuesday.
As reported by
The Salt Lake Tribune, Bennett ended her 26-year coaching tenure to focus on teaching and her duties as athletic director. Bennett spent 19 years at Skyline and finished with a record of 327-110 with two state titles.
Her career included 19 postseason appearances and 11 region titles, and 32 players who went on to play collegiately, according to the newspaper.
"It's a big decision. As long as I can remember, the word ‘coach' has preceded my name," the 58-year-old Bennett told the Tribune. "I'm happy with what I accomplished here. It's a good time."
