Girls basketball in Utah will not be the same after Skyline (Salt Lake City)
coach Deb Bennett stepped down Tuesday.
As reported by The Salt Lake Tribune
, Bennett ended her 26-year coaching tenure to focus on teaching and her duties as athletic director. Bennett spent 19 years at Skyline and finished with a record of 327-110 with two state titles.
Her career included 19 postseason appearances and 11 region titles, and 32 players who went on to play collegiately, according to the newspaper.
"It's a big decision. As long as I can remember, the word ‘coach' has preceded my name," the 58-year-old Bennett told the Tribune. "I'm happy with what I accomplished here. It's a good time."
