  Lincoln-Way East girls track sets Illinois state record in 4x100 relay

  The world-famous Penn Relays produce spectacular times and distances in most track and field events, and the Lincoln-Way East (Frankfort) girls proved the point by setting the Illinois state record in the 4x100 relay in Philadelphia.

  According to Milesplit.com, the team posted a time of 46.1 seconds and was the second-fastest American group, finishing .3 seconds behind Long Beach Poly (Calif.).
  
  Reports are that the four girls involved in setting the record were: junior Alexis Hyshaw,  freshman Asia Brown, freshman Alexis Pierre-Antoine and senior Aaliyah Brown.
  
  The Chicago Sun Times reports that the previous best was 46.23 seconds by East St. Louis in 2008, and also that coach Caroline Gerritsen is pregnant, so she is not able to follow her team to national events.

  Presidential Xcellent 25 Football Ratings

  Hoover is ranked No. 1 in the MaxPreps Presidential Xcellent 25.

  Herbert Hoover, the 31st president of the United States, is often listed among the worst presidents to ever hold office. But when it comes to high school football, Hoover is No. 1.
  
  Using the MaxPreps Freeman computer football ratings, we've compiled a list of the top 25 football teams with surnames of U.S. Presidents. Hoover (Ala.) tops the list as it is ranked No. 30 overall in the nation by the computer ratings with a record of 10-0 and a rating of 60.7.
  
  Washington (Miami, Fla.) is right behind at No. 2 with an 8-1 record, a 34 overall placement and a rating of 59.4.
  
  Of course we've taken some liberties here. Hoover isn't actually named after Herbert Hoover. Instead, the town is named after a former insurance company owner, William H. Hoover. And Washington isn't actually named after our nation's first president, it is named after famed African-American educator Booker T. Washington.
  
  But for the purpose of this exercise, any surnames similar to those of our past presidents is fair game.

  Nation's No. 72 recruit Aaron Bailey injured in Bolingbrook's first defeat

  Bolingbrook (Ill.) was handed a double loss Friday night as Lincoln-Way East (Frankfort, Ill.) posted a 42-19 upset victory.

  It not only was the first defeat for the No. 1-ranked Raiders, but they also lost outstanding quarterback Aaron Bailey on the second play. After an option pitch to Omar Stover, which resulted in an 89-yard touchdown run, Bailey was tackled and suffered what is believed to be a sprained right knee. The Chicago Tribune reported that he will have an MRI on Monday.
  
  MaxPreps ranks the 6-foot-2, 220-pound senior, who has committed to the University of Illinois, as the No. 72 player in the country.
  
  With Bailey on the sidelines, a Northern Illinois University recruit stole the show.
  
  Tommy Fuessel rushed for 115 yards and three touchdowns and passed for another score to raise the Griffins' record to 6-0 and put an end to the defending Class 8A state champions' 13-game winning streak.

  Arizona's Devon Allen wins four at Arcadia Invitational

  ARCADIA, Calif. - Brophy College Prep (Phoenix, Ariz.) junior Devon Allen won three individual events and contributed a leg to a victorious 400-meter relay, highlighting a truly national track and field event - the 45th Arcadia Invitational Saturday night.
  
  Allen, a top 6-foot-1, 190-pound wide receiver football recruit, won both hurdle races in Arizona state record time, 13.52 (110 meters) and 36.39 (300) then found the energy to come from behind to win the 200 meters in 21.10 seconds, the third fastest time in the country. The two hurdles marks rank No. 2 in the nation this year.
  
  The four victories in one day matched the meet record, held by at least one athlete, Obea Moore of John Muir (Pasadena) in the late 1990s. Against competition like this, winning both hurdles is one thing. But adding the 200 and relay win is extraordinary. He also contributed to a shuttle hurdles victory on Friday.
  
  Allen's victories set the tone for a meet dominated by non-California standouts, which isn't normally the case. Californians normally make up 80 percent of the competitors and 75 percent of the winners. Right now - the meet is still going on - more than 50 percent of the winners are from out of state. Chicago's Aaliay Brown (Lincoln-Way East-Frankfort, Ill.) also won both the girls' sprints and Colorado's Raymond Bozmans surprised many to defeat Ronald Darby (Potomac (Oxon Hill, Md.)) to take the boys 100 (10.41 to 10.55). 
  
  National season bests have been crushed throughout the night the most glaring in the boys 3,200 which was won by Futsum Zienassellassie, of North Central-Indianapolis, Ind in 8 minutes, 47.75 seconds, one of a remarkable 16 runners to break nine minutes. In fact, the nation's top 18 marks in that event were set in that race. Remarkable.
