Washington (Miami, Fla.)Being the nation's No. 1 team apparently has some pretty cool perks.
, the top-ranked team in the Xcellent 25, got to hang out with Miami rapper Rick Ross at a local Dave and Busters.
According to assistant coach Tim Harris Jr., Ross is friends with a team parent and asked to meet the players before he focuses on recording his next album.
It was a last-minute event that came together nicely.
"It was exciting for the kids," Harris Jr. said. "They jumped all over [it.]"
According to reports on Twitter, Ross gave a powerful speech to the players.
"Just had a strong convo with the Nation's No. 1 ranked high school football team," Ross himself tweeted Wednesday night.
Ross then posed for pictures with the Tornadoes players.
Harris Jr. was appreciative of Ross carving out time to connect with the Booker T. Washington players.
"I think it was a great gesture by Rick Ross, taking some time out of his busy schedule to give our kids an opportunity to shake hands, take pictures, and offering them words of encouragement to continue doing the right thing," he said.
Booker T. Washington will need to quickly refocus on its next task at hand: the team's district opener against Monsignor Pace on Friday night.
