defensive Da'Shawn Hand
and Liberty County (Hinesville, Ga.)
linebacker Raekwon McMillan
have a good deal in common.
Both were U.S. Air Force Sophomore All-Americans
this fall after highly-productive 10th-grade seasons. Both are emerging as national recruits, and both have offers from Ohio State (among many others.)
Could the recruitment of Hand and McMillan be more intertwined than would normally be the case for a player from Northern Virginia and southwestern Georgia?
Earlier this week, McMillan hinted at the possibility of playing together with Hand at Ohio State.
"I'm gonna go ahead and say ,, if Da'shawn Hand commits to Ohio State ,, im going too , #BuckeyeNation #gobucks," he tweeted on Monday.
McMillan clearly has interested in the Buckeyes. He's already visited Columbus and is already planning a return visit, Liberty County assistant coach Ryan Glazer told MaxPreps.
He's also planning visits to Auburn and Alabama. His recruitment has exploded since February, when his only offers were South Carolina and Ole Miss. He now boasts offers from numerous offers from teams across the country.
Hand seems to be taking his time with the recruiting process, a process in which academics will likely be a huge factor.
"He's a high academic that wants to be an engineer," Woodbridge head coach Kevin Wright told MaxPreps.
Hand has not given an indication that Ohio State stands out over any of the other schools pursuing him, nor has he suggested that McMillan's recruitment will affect his own.
However, if he ends up in Columbus, and McMillan follows through with a commitment to the Buckeyes, Urban Meyer would be well on his way to a Top three recruiting class in 2014.
