In one of the great match-ups of the basketball season,
Marcus LoVett Jr. of
Providence (Burbank, Calif.) won the battle but lost the war.
The 5-foot-11 sophomore guard, who scored over 1,000 points as a freshman, poured in 47 points (17 of 21 from the field), but his team still suffered a 91-86 loss in overtime to
Campbell Hall (North Hollywood, Calif.). The winners were led by another standout sophomore guard,
Aaron Holiday, who had 40 points. Though Holiday fouled out with three minutes left in the fourth quarter, his teammates picked him up in the overtime.
LoVett also had 48 points during a 69-61 victory over Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, Calif.).

Bryce Alford scored 37 points as
La Cueva (Albuquerque, N.M.) won the Albuquerque Metro Basketball Championships with an 85-76 victory over Atrisco Heritage Academy (Albuquerque, N.M.) The son of University of New Mexico head coach Steve Alford, Bryce had 45 points in a semifinal victory. He has topped 40 points six times this season with a high of 49.

Anders Broman regained the career scoring record in Minnesota with a 57-point effort as
Lakeview Christian Academy (Duluth, Minn.) raced past New Life Academy (Woodbury, Minn.) 104-79.

Potter's House Christian (Grand Rapids, Mich.) to a 78-71 victory over Black River (Holland, Mich.). He set the previous record two years ago with 36 points.

DeLaSalle (Minneapolis, Minn.) to an 89-67 victory over Breck (Minneapolis, Minn.) with a 47-point outing.

Reggie Lynch blocked 15 shots to lead
Edina (Minn.) to a 74-43 rout of Central (St. Paul, Minn.).
*Hunter Bennefield scored a school-record 45 points as
Page (Franklin, Tenn.) rolled past East Hickman County (Lyles, Tenn.) 91-53.

Achille (Okla.) lost to
Victory Life Academy (Durant, Okla.) in spite of 45 points, 10 rebounds and six assists by
Austin Beene, His 45-point total was the highest at Achille in over 60 years.

St. Anthony (Jersey City, N.J.) extended its winning streak to a current national-best 75 games with a 54-25 victory over Christian Brothers Academy (Lincroft, N.J.). Nine players scored for the Friars, who continue to play suffocating defense.
