The Millbrook (Winchester, Va.)
girls basketball team set a state record Tuesday by defeating Carroll County (Hillsville, Va.) 65-31 in the Group AA Division 4 state semifinals. It marked the Pioneers' 79th-consecutive victory, surpassing the previous record of 78 set by Haysi (Va.) from 1947-51.
Millbrook, which will go after its third-consecutive state title Saturday, used a devastating defense to force 33 turnovers and hold the Cavaliers to 28.6 percent shooting from the field.
Carroll County senior Lindsay Martin told the Roanoke Times, "I've seen pressure before, but nothing like that."

scored 27 points for Millbrook and moved to No. 3 in state career scoring. Senior Alisha Mobley
added 24 points.
