Today was an especially big day for
James Quick, a senior wide receiver from
Trinity (Louisville, Ky.).
Quick was one of six players to announce his college selection — in his case hometown University of Louisville — and was also named the game's Most Valuable Player.
He caught a 34-yard touchdown pass from
Jeremy Johnson of
Carver (Montgomery, Ala.) on fourth-and-16 with less than three minutes to play to help the East beat the West 15-8 during the 13th annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Quick finished with three catches for 71 yards.
Others who announced their college choices during the NBC-televised contest included:
Tyler Boyd, a running back from
Clairton (Pa.), who chose the University of Pittsburgh.
Joe Mathis, a defensive end from
Upland (Calif.), who selected the University of Washington.
Mike Mitchell, a linebacker from
Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas), who picked Ohio State.
Alquadin Muhammad, a defensive end from
Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.), who chose the University of Miami.
Tony Stevens, a wide receiver from
Evans (Orlando, Fla.), who said he will attend Texas A&M.
