The Milwaukee Brewers, a team consisting primarily of players from California, continued to win close games during the third and fourth days of the Area Code Games held in Long Beach.
Milwaukee edged the A's despite not getting a hit until the final inning on Wednesday. It also pulled out a seventh-inning win over last year's unbeatens, the Kansas City Royals.

TuesdayReds 4, Athletics 3Michael Hoard homered for the Reds in their win over the Athletics, who suffered their first loss of the Area Code Games on Tuesday. Marcus Doi also had an RBI basehit for the winners.

Francis Christy plated a pair with a two-bagger to account for the A's runs.

White Sox 10, Yankees 4Trey Ball pitched well for the second straight outing for the White Sox after losing a close one to the Brewers on Monday. He also shined at the plate with a pair of hits.
Kyle Devin had a two-run single to pace the Yankee offense.
Rangers 6, Nationals 4The Rangers keep hitting the long ball as
Garrett Luna belted one out to put the Texas team ahead of the Nationals in the fifth.
Brewers 5, Royals 4The Brewers won another close one thanks to strong pitching. This time
Stephen Gonsalves threw a pair of shutout innings.
Alex JacksonSeaver Whalen also drove in the winning run in the seventh after the Royals had tied the game in the top of the inning on a single by Seaver Whalen.
WednesdayBrewers 3, Athletics 2The Brewers continue to come through in the clutch, this time rallying for three runs in the seventh after failing to get a hit through six.
Ryan McMahon had a single to break up the no-hitter and drive in two runs.
Yankees 3, Royals 1The Royals continue to struggle as they lost a close one to the Yankees.
Tyler Green and Joe Wainhouse each had basehits to spark a two-run rally for the Yankees. Pitcher
Mark Armstrong also threw three shutout innings.
White Sox 14, Nationals 11In the highest-scoring game of the tournament thus far, the White Sox blasted the Nationals 14-11 behind the play of
Andrew Rosa, who went 3-for-3 with seven RBI.
Jon Denney also had a three-run homer in the win.
Reds 8, Nationals 4Michael Hoard had a two-run single to pace the Reds offense. The Nationals lost both of their outings on Wednesday.
