Basketball undoubtedly has provided some special moments for John and Sean Miller, but we're guessing June 1 is a day they will never forget.
That is when the Millers, father and son, respectively, will be inducted into the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League's Hall of Fame. John will be inducted as a coach after a 35-year career between
Blackhawk (Beaver Falls, Pa.) and Riverside, while Sean will go in as a player.
"It really is an honor," Sean Miller told the
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "The fact that I'm able to be inducted the same year as my father ... it just makes it seem right because I am so much a product of him."
According to the newspaper, the elder Miller compiled a 657-280 overall record, with most of that coming in 29 years at Blackhawk (583-222). He has been retired from high school basketball for seven years.
John coached Sean at Blackhawk, where Sean totaled more than 1,700 points and helped lead the team to a 1986 WPIAL title before moving on to play at the University of Pittsburgh. Sean now is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Arizona.
"I think our relationship has grown over the years and I think we have such a strong bond from coaching and just being around the game of basketball," Sean Miller told the newspaper.
