Early in the season, pitchers are supposed to be ahead of the hitters, and Flagler Palm Coast (Palm Coast, Fla.)
ace Morgan Lambert
is taking it to another level.
Lambert tossed her third no-hitter of the softball season, which came only a day after her second one for the Bulldogs.
When a softball pitcher is on this kind of roll, the local paper is left to track how many times the opposing teams get a bat on the ball. In this instance, as reported by The Daytona Beach News-Journal
, that would be a mere 10 times between the two games.
Lambert struck out 14 in a 9-0 win against Matanzas (Palm Coast, Fla.), which followed a 15-0 victory against Pine Ridge (Deltona, Fla.).
According to statistics posted on MaxPreps, Lambert is 5-1 this season with a 0.88 ERA. Opponents are batting only .095 against her, as she has allowed only nine hits in 32 innings. She has 57 strikeouts.
A sophomore, Lambert also no-hit Atlantic (Port Orange, Fla.) in the second game of the season. She also just missed a fourth no-hitter, giving up just one hit against Taylor (Pierson, Fla.). The lone loss, 4-0, came against Mandarin (Jacksonville, Fla.). Lambert was touched for four hits in that one.
