Covering High School Sports in America
11:18 a.m. EST It seems like every year as the NFL Draft nears, America is introduced to a handful of Mid-American Conference players who were not heavily recruited in high school but have blossomed into NFL-caliber players.

Leading up to the 2013 NFL Draft, don't be shocked to hear Mwanza Wamulumba's name, even though it will likely be mispronounced.

Wamulumba is a 6-foot-4, 230-pound defensive end from Meade (Fort Meade, Md.). He recorded 87 tackles and 13 sacks in 2009 and was a second-team all-state selection among Maryland's big schools. Wamulumba is also a talented wrestler in the 215-pound weight class.

He has perhaps as much physical talent as any player in Maryland, prompting T.C. Cameron, prep writer for The Capital in Annapolis, to say, "I believe Mwanza will be the next star in the Mid-American Conference that will leave pundits asking, 'How did this kid get passed over by bigger-name programs?' "
