Another high school football player has died after collapsing on the field.

Downey (Calif.) junior running back Dodi Soza died Saturday two days after he collapsed during a junior varsity game against Lynwood, according to in Los Angeles.

Soza collapsed as he was racing for a touchdown during the afternoon game on Thursday.

According to the report, Soza was transported to St. Francis Medical Center and then was transferred to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, where a representative confirmed his death a short while ago. The cause of death has not been reported.

Soza is the fifth high school football player to lose his life in a field-related incident since Sept. 13, bringing the national fatality total to at least seven this season.

Heading into this season, there were at least 25 fatal injuries to American high school football players since 2003, according to the National Center for Catastrophic Sport Injury Research at the University of North Carolina.

Downey Mayor Mario A. Guerra tweeted the following: “Our community mourns the passing of one of our own today, DHS football player Dodi Soza. Our broken hearts are with his family. God bless him.”
