Listening to your coach can often lead to success in basketball. But sometimes it's not enough - and that's when you need a big fat helping of luck.

Whatever Derrick Swift wants to call his 3/4-court shot in the final second of regulation (luck, skill or divine intervention), he and his Lake County (Tiptonville, Tenn.) teammates can call themselves semifinalists.

As reported by the Nashville Tennessean, Lake County was down three against Washington (Memphis, Tenn.) with 3.1 seconds left in a Class A quarterfinal Thursday. Just before a Washington player attempted a free throw, Swift said he heard coach Dawn Barger say "Two dribbles and shoot."

The result? Swift rebounded the missed free throw and followed his coach's directions. After that, his team went on to win 79-77.
