Longtime Summerville (S.C.) football coach John McKissick has been selected the 2011 winner of the Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year Award.

The announcement was made by the NFL Friday morning as part of Super Bowl festivities in Indianapolis. Shula presented the award to McKissick, who is the winningest football coach nationally with 594 career victories. As part of the award, McKissick receives $10,000 and the Summerville program will receive $15,000.

Other finalists included Harrison (Farmington Hills, Mich.) mentor John Herrington and Hal Lamb of Calhoun (Ga.).
