During his long tenure at Brother Rice (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), legendary head coach Al Fracassa has notched over 400 victories.

Apparently, he has also accrued favor with the Virgin Mary.

Fracassa's squad nipped rival De La Salle Collegiate (Warren, Mich.) 26-24 on Saturday thanks to a successful Hail Mary pass from quarterback Alex Malzone to receiver to Jason Alessi with no time remaining, giving Brother Rice an improbable victory over one of its chief rivals.

Just one play earlier, De La Salle had sacked Malzone and recovered his fumble, thinking it had won the game.

However it was ruled an incomplete pass, setting the stage for Brother Rice's last-second heroics.
