The girls swim team from
Germantown Academy (Fort Washington, Pa.) set a national record on Saturday while winning the Eastern Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Championships at La Salle University.
Swimming World Magazine reported that the foursome of Shannon McKernan, Meagan Dollard, Madison Visco and Rachel Zilinskas swam the 400-yard freestyle relay in a record time of 3:21.63. The previous record of 3:22.34 had stood since 2006 and also was held by Germantown.
*Meanwhile, Connor Black of
Mundelein (Ill.) set a national public school record by winning the 100-yard butterfly in 46.71 seconds during the Illinois state championships. The previous standard of 47.08 was set in 2009. The Stanford University recruit's previous best had been 48.12.
