From last year's "Dwightmare" in which the Orlando Magic's franchise player continually waffled on his trade demands, to joining this year's shockingly underachieving Los Angeles Lakers drama, it's hard to remember a time when Howard could simply play basketball.

Luckily, we have a video reminder of that time.

Before tonight's showdown with the Miami Heat in Los Angeles, hopefully Howard can whip out his smartphone, log onto MaxPreps, and get a glimpse of what it was like to play without the pressure.

After a brilliant high school career at Southwest Atlanta Christian, Howard impressed scouts with his size, athleticism and personality. Howard elected to skip college, and was selected by the Orlando Magic with the No. 1 pick in the 2004 NBA draft.

Injuries have slowed down "Superman" the past two seasons but it is generally accepted that, when healthy, Howard is the best center in the league.
