Pleasant Grove (Utah) offensive lineman
Brandon Fanaika, considered the top recruit in Utah, signed with Stanford today.
Despite a late push by Utah, the 6-foot-3, 315-pounder, stuck with his original commitment to Stanford and said academics played a huge role in his decision. He also had BYU and California on his short list.
"Once you get admitted, it's just kind of hard to turn it down," Fanaika told
The Salt Lake Tribune.
According to the newspaper, Fanaika will be the first full-blooded Tongan to play for the Pac-12 school.
