Deshaun Watson, Gainesville

Auburn recently landed a commitment from quarterback Jeremy Johnson, but that hasn't stopped the Tigers from pursuing one of the country's top signal-callers from the class of 2014.

Gene Chizik and staff extended a verbal scholarship offer to Gainesville (Ga.) quarterback DeShaun Watson on Saturday, while Watson visited campus.

"Auburn just offered!" Watson tweeted this afternoon.

Watson, who gave an early verbal commitment to Clemson, later reiterated on Twitter that he is solidly committed to the Tigers.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback was a U.S. Air Force Sophomore All-American and nearly took home National Sophomore of the Year honors after a prodigious 10th-grade campaign.

He passed for 3,251 yards and 41 touchdowns while rushing for 16 scores and over 1,000 yards.
