Following Katy's Texas 5A Division II semifinal victory over Steele, the two teams prayed at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco.

Throughout the 2012 football season, it became a tradition for members of the Steele (Cibolo, Texas) Knights to gather after the final whistle for a post-game prayer.

Following Steele's season-ending 45-33 loss to Katy (Texas) Saturday in a Class 5A Division II state semifinal on Saturday, players from both teams took a knee on the playing field at Waco's Floyd Casey Stadium for a prayer led by Steele defensive back John Burton.

Remembered in the prayer were those coping with the tragedy in Newtown, Conn., that occurred the previous day.

"That just tells you a lot about these two communities and why they've been successful,'' said Steele coach Michael Jinks.
