The Guyer (Denton, Texas)
senior, who was found dead last weekend, was honored by his teammates last night in Guyer's home opener against Heritage.
Players signed Maki's #33 jersey, which team captains carried up to opening coin toss.
"As a coach or administrator, you don't prepare for anything like this. But Guyer's a strong family and we're going to take care of the Makis along the way," Guyer head coach John Walsh told the Dallas Morning News
earlier in the week.
Guyer won the game, 35-14, just hours after Maki was laid to rest.
Nathan Maki is gone, but clearly not forgotten.
