Bo Nickal of Allen (Texas) was named Outstanding Wrestler during the Cadet Nationals freestyle tournament in Fargo, N.D.

The prestigious tournament annually draws around 2,000 wrestlers from throughout the USA. Twenty-three mats were used during the week at the Fargodome. Officials estimated that the tourney meant between $8 and $10 million to the Fargo community.

Nickal, who won the 160-pound title, was one of four entries to claim prep wrestling's coveted "triple crown" this summer. The other three are Hunter Marko of Amery (Wis.), 94-pound champion; Aaron Pico of St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), who won at 132; and Lance Berick of Totino-Grace (Fridley, Minn.), winner at 195.

During the 2012 season each of the four also had won national titles in folkstyle and Greco-Roman tournaments. Prior to this year only nine wrestlers had won similar triple crowns.

Nickal, who moved up from 152 pounds, told, "I didn't want to drag my body down too much with all the weigh-ins, so I moved up a weight for freestyle. I knew I could do well here if I wrestled to my potential. I enjoy wrestling all three styles - they all mix together and it helps me a lot."
