It was a long, frustrating wait, but
Brandon Camic finally is reaping some rewards as a senior basketball star at
Serra Catholic (McKeesport, Pa.).
The 6-foot-5 senior, who had to sit out his junior year after transferring from South Allegheny (McKeesport, Pa.), scored a school-record 51 points on Friday during an 88-33 rout of Elderton (Pa.). In that same game,
Mark Matta tied a school record by dishing out 18 assists.
Moving from point guard to power forward, Camic is leading Class A scorers in the Pittsburgh area with a 23.7 average and recently scored his 1,000th point in just two and one-half seasons. He also averages 10 rebounds and six assists. He often matches up against the opposing point guard on defense.
"He's having a great year," coach Vince Gibbons told the Post-Gazette. "We can do multiple things with him. He's good at everything. He can be a match-up nightmare for opponents on offense. With his (improvement on) defense, he's now becoming a complete player."
