The mother of four was recently crowned as Mrs. California Galaxy and will next compete for the overall Mrs. Galaxy 2014 in a competition later this month in Orlando, Fla.

According to the Mountain Democrat, the 42-year-old DeMure is extensively involved with local groups that help youth. She is a spokesperson for youthachievingexcellence.com and also is the owner of Gold Cal Jrs. Volleyball Club, which has sent loads of players to Division I colleges. In addition to all that, she is a 22-year volunteer with local PTAs and led the Trojans to the second round of the playoffs and a 19-8 record.

Her daughter, Emily DeMure, will be a sophomore on this year's Oak Ridge girls team.

The competition judges participants, who must be at least 21 and married, on four categories: interview, evening gown, swimsuit and fashion wear.

"What represents me best as Mrs. Galaxy International and as a passionate volunteer for the PTA is a quote from John C. Maxwell’s ‘Success One Day at a Time’ where he states, 'Think of the pursuit of your dream as being like a major athletic event. Train for it. As you prepare, exercise, you will get stronger mentally, emotionally and physically. To successfully achieve your dream, you need to keep improving … keep your body fit; keep your heart flexible; keep your mind open.'"
