Earlier this season, newly-minted Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning took to the sidelines
of a Denver-area Colorado high school game with teammate Brandon Stokley.
Now, the team's vice president for football operations was seen on the sidelines of the Class 5A state final over the weekend, which was played at the Broncos' Mile High Stadium.
John Elway, who starred at Granada Hills (Ca.) before a storied career at Stanford and with the Broncos, was spotted on the sidelines of the Class 5A title game between Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch, Colo.)
and Cherokee Trail (Aurora, Colo.)
, a game won by Valor Christian, 9-0.
Though it was a hard-fought contest, Elway didn't see either team air it out like he did in high school, when he passed for over 5,000 yards for his career. Valor Christian quarterback Luke Del Rio
finished 12 of 20 for 89 yards while Aric Johnson
of Cherokee Trail completed 6 of 9 passes for 91 yards.
It seems no team in the NFL follows high school football like the Denver Broncos.
