Duane Wilson Jr.
of Dominican (Whitefish Bay, Wis.)
is one of the top point guards in the class of 2013. The 6-foot-3 Marquette commit is ranked No. 84 overall by MaxPreps and as the No. 17 point guard in his class according to 247Sports.
While Wilson's goal is to have a successful career in the NBA, his mother Lashonda Lever is sure to keep him focused on off-court success as well.
"His dream is to become an NBA player," said Lever. "But I've always told him since he was little that he needs to keep his focus towards a career because if something was to happen to him, at least he'll have something to fall back on."
Wilson Jr. has gotten the message and is thriving academically despite an adjustment period after transferring to private Dominican from a public school. He credits his success to a tremendous support system comprised of his family, teachers, teammates and coaches.
"Duane's a good student, studies hard. A lot of teachers love having him in class," said his father, Duane Wilson Sr. "What you put into it is what you get out of it, and it's showing results."
