Christian Brothers Academy (Lincroft, N.J.) defeated Colts Neck (N.J.), 25-36 (the lower score wins in cross country), on Tuesday during its 2012 boys cross country season opener.

The triumph increased the Colts' national-record dual-meet winning streak to a phenomenal 316 consecutive victories.

They backed up their in-state dominance last year by winning the Nike Cross Nationals and being crowned national champions. They have also won a state-record 17 New Jersey Meet of Champions titles.

Led by returning seniors Jack Boyle, Bill Bragg and Aaron Liberatore, along with junior Mike McClemens, the Colts could be even better this year.

National cross country expert Marc Bloom likes what he sees and has placed CBA No. 1 in the nation in his preseason rankings. His No. 1 girls team is Fayetteville-Manlius (Manlius, N.Y.).
