Since winning Washington's Class 4A high jump state title at 6-10 during the spring, Dakarai Hightower has exploded this summer.

The recent graduate of Curtis (University Place, Wash.) cleared a personal-record 7-1 in late June and has continued to climb during July. He has jumped 7-2, 7-2 1/2 and then soared a career and 2012 national-best 7-3 to win the Young Men's Division over the weekend during the USATF Junior Olympics Track & Field Championships in Baltimore, Md.

Sprint star Aldrich Bailey, a recent graduate of Mansfield Timberview (Arlington, Texas), won the Young Men's 100- and 200-meter sprints in respective times of 10.44 and 20.78 seconds.

* Nia Britt, one of the nation's top incoming sophomore basketball players and track and field performers, has transferred from Alemany (Mission Hills, Calif.) to Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.), according to the Los Angeles Times.
