Covering High School Sports in America

Former Sacramento Kings star and 14-year NBA veteran Mike Bibby received the loudest ovation he has heard in some time Saturday night – but for all the wrong reasons.

Bibby was watching his son, freshman Michael Bibby Jr., play for Shadow Mountain (Phoenix) in a 60-42 sectional tournament loss to Sunnyslope, and wound up being escorted from the gym by a uniformed police officer.

Various reports indicate the elder Bibby – who also played at Shadow Mountain – was ejected for arguing with officials.

For what it's worth, Bibby Jr. and Shadow Mountain appear to have a bright future ahead of them. The 5-foot-10 guard is posting 9.2 points and 4.1 assists per game for the 24-6 Matadors. Five other freshmen dot the school's roster, including key contributors Carlos Johnson and J.J. Rhymes.
