Davis Howell now owns the national record for career receptions.

Davis Howell, a senior at Christian Academy of Knoxville (Tenn.), broke the national record for career receptions Friday in the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association Class 3A final against Milan.

The 6-foot-2 receiver broke the record of 349, previously held by Ben Wonderly of Fairview (Sherwood, Ohio), who set the record in 2008.

Howell entered the game with 343 catches and caught his 350th career pass late in the second quarter (Qwixcore game log).

He finished with 15 catches for 172 yards and a touchdown to end his career with 358 receptions.

Entering the showdown with Milan, Howell had played the last five games with a broken thumb.

Touchdown from Friday's game

Christian Academy of Knoxville's high-powered offense has rewritten the Tennessee record books. The team's quarterback, Charlie High, broke the state's single-season passing record on Friday as well.

In addition to Howell, Christian Academy of Knoxville also features two receivers with more than 1,000 yards in Josh Smith and Franklin Murchison.
