Sydney Moss

A heroic effort by Sydney Moss in her last high school basketball game could not keep Boone County (Florence, Ky.) from losing to Dunbar (Lexington, Ky.) 72-70 in overtime during the first round of the state quarterfinals.

Her father, former NFL all-star wide receiver Randy Moss, was in the stands to watch her pour in 41 points on 20-of-38 shooting, grab 13 rebounds, hand out four assists and make three steals.

The 5-foot-11 standout, who has signed with the University of Florida, averaged 22.8 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 4.2 steals. Already named Kentucky's Gatorade Player of the Year, and also the favorite to win Kentucky's Miss Basketball crown, she completed her outstanding career with 2,951 points and over 1,500 rebounds.

* Despite 45 points from Brad Visser, Calvin Christian (Grandville, Mich.) was handed an 80-70 defeat by NorthPointe Christian (Grand Rapids, Mich.), to win its first district title since 2007. NorthPointe Christian drilled 19-of-22 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.
