Danny Henderson, Duncanville

One of the premier boys basketball coaches in Texas is headed for the college ranks, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Danny Henderson of Duncanville (Texas), who was named MaxPreps National Coach of the Year in 2012 while at Marcus (Flower Mound, Texas), has accepted a position as assistant coach at Boise State University.

Henderson compiled a record of 708-172 during his 25-year career. He won Class 5A state championships in 2011 and 2012, led by All-American Marcus Smart, while at Marcus. He also captured  a pair of Class 2A state crowns while coaching at Peaster.

The opening became available when Boise State associate head coach Dave Wojcik was hired as head coach at San Jose State University.
