The Biloxi (Miss.) Sun-Herald reported earlier in the week that Favre - the NFL's all-time leading passer in career yards and touchdowns during a brilliant 20-year career - was going to become the offensive coordinator. The 42-year-old Favre has helped out at Oak Grove during the past few years in an unofficial capacity and lives in the area.
He also ran his 7-on-7 camp at Oak Grove in late June and told the Hattiesburg American, "I really believe that if I do coach, I'll be at this level. I believe it's a lot more rewarding at this level, because you really feel like you're making an impact."
However, head coach Nevil Barr emphasized, "Absolutely nothing is official. Brett's not even in town. When he gets back next week, we'll talk about everything at that time."
