Jimmy Crane, who was announced as North Bergen's (N.J.)
new head coach on Feb. 8, has resigned from the position, North Bergen athletic director Jerry Maietta confirmed to MaxPreps.
"Jimmy Crane stepped down," Maietta said. "As far as I know, no decision (on his replacement) has been made yet."
North Bergen hired Crane to replace legendary coach Vin Ascolese, who retired after 39 years at the helm of North Bergen with 359 wins.
Asked why Crane resigned, Maeitta replied, "Personal reasons."
Crane did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
A native Texan, Crane last coached at The Woodlands (Texas)
high school. The North Bergen position was his first coaching job in New Jersey.
North Bergen's program has been mired in turmoil lately, following a storybook ending to the season that saw it shock Montclair to capture a section title on a last-second Hail Mary pass. An ongoing NJSIAA investigation
is looking into highly-publicized allegations of recruiting.
