Lindsey Horan passed up a soccer scholarship to national powerhouse University of North Carolina this week to turn professional by signing a six-figure contract with French team Paris Saint-Germain, according to the Denver Post.
Horan also had passed up her high school career in Golden, Colo., to play the Colorado Rush club team.
She was considered one of the top players nationally in the Class of 2012 and currently is trying out for the USA women's under-20 national team, which will play in the U20 World Cup later this summer in Japan.
The 18-year-old star was praised by Colorado Rush technical director Erik Bushey.
"This has been a dream of hers since I can remember," he said. "Her hard work has paid off. She is deserving.. By her taking a path that is less traveled, she has opened a door for others to follow. She is a good role model for our younger Rush players with the same aspirations."
