The Star-Ledger noted that the 6-foot-4 1/2 guard is ranked as the nation's No. 1 incoming freshman by Hoopscoop.com.

Battle, who has a lot of friends at St. Joseph, told the newspaper, "St. Joseph is a great school, but I feel very comfortable at Gill St. Bernard's. I really think it's the best place for me to develop as a student and as a basketball player."

* TJ Cline, a recent graduate of Plano West (Plano, Texas), has signed with Niagara University, according to the Dallas Morning News. The 6-8, 220-pounder, who led the team in scoring (16.8) and rebounding (7.7), is the son of Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman and Tim Cline, who played for the Washington Generals during tours against the Harlem Globetrotters.

* Kalamazoo Central (Kalamazoo, Mich.) is looking for a head basketball coach after highly successful Mike Thomas left for an assistant coaching position at Albion College. In four years at Central, Thomas compiled a 92-11 record with two Class A state titles and one runner-up finish during the past three years.
