The North Shore (Glen Head, N.Y.)
girls track team set a U.S. national indoor record by winning the 4x1500 relay in a sizzling 18 minutes, 50.91 seconds during the Jim Mitchell Invitational at The Armory in New York City.
The previous record of 19:16.43 had stood since 2006.
Team members included Elizabeth Caldwell, Jessica Donohue, Samantha Nadel and Brianna Nerud. Bronxville (N.Y.)
sophomore Mary Cain won the 1,000-meter run in a personal-best 2:49.58, just 0.10 short of the national sophomore-class record set in 2005.
