Manning High School defensive tackle Phillip Dukes verbally committed to South Carolina on Tuesday, according to The Associated Press.

Dukes, who ranks as the No. 14 defensive tackle in the nation by MaxPreps, chose the Gamecocks over Clemson, North Carolina and Alabama.

Dukes, who had 89 tackles, 23 tackles for loss and 12 sacks during his senior season, was named to the Shrine Bowl and to the all-state team following the season.

"The most important factor in my decision was where I would be comfortable and what environment felt like the family environment here at Manning high," Dukes told PalmettoSports.com.
